You typically place a bet (a dollar is the usual amount) to attempt to win a side jackpot that could be upwards of twenty-five thousand dollars. Although big jackpots like these are particularly alluring, they’re also particularly hard to win. You would have to get a Royal Flush in order to succeed on this wager. Also, think about this- you wager twenty hands and make the side wager each time. That’s $20 you could have used towards the actual game wager instead of a sucker bet. Imagine what you might have been able to win at a bet with better odds employing that twenty dollars.
Individual number wagers in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has only one. This shifts the overall casino edge from 2.63% with one zero wheel to a whopping 5.26percent in American. The single number bet has only a one in 38 chance of succeeding, which are very long odds indeed. Try even-odd or black-red bets as a substitute which have a much smaller casino edge.
Keno: Any variation of Keno, and anyway you bet on it, the house edge can be a huge 25%. Yes, that isn’t a typo. Because of the large amount of numbers you have to choose, it’s not advisable to bet on Keno very much. A few times for fun, perhaps. But don’t spend all your money on it or you will quickly find yourself beaten.
